This is a frame made for fun. Designed for slopestyle and dirt its 100mm of travel gives you a bike which can handle the bigger stuff as well as giving you hardtail style reactions. Designed by the Kona clump riders including Cowan, you can be sure this frame is well designed and well built.
Its small size and shorter travel makes it an ideal candidate for do it all / cross over gravity stuff like 4x, slopestyle, freeride, dirt, street and park and even a bit of all mountain and DJ. Its 70deg head tube suits a 100mm travel fork with a 1.125 dia.
Various Kona Bass review gives this little thrasher good marks, maybe not as sophisticated as some newer frames but the traditional kona 4 bar linkage is easy to ride and easy to get familiar with.
Reduced from £1200 - the Kona Bass is a bargain at £449. Yes its 3 years old, yes konas are not everyone's cup of tea, but this frame is fantastic for the price and a dependable little thrasher for the money. Konas also tend to keep there price well so should you wish to upgrade in a few years you should be able to resell with not too much of a loss.

British Cycling Membership and Licences

To be honest, unless your a serious racer and need a race license I never thought it worthwhile to join British Cycling. It seems times are changing and the various levels of BC membership have a number of worthwhile bonuses to help us Mountain Bikers do what we love.

Now I wont bullshit about, some of the Membership benefits are a joke at best, but from only £13.50 a year there seem to be some real benefits that we can all get our hands on.

I will run you through the different membership levels.

Ride membership: £24 a year
They say its ideal for commuters and hobby riders - I think it suits any mountain bike riders who don't need (or want) a race license.

Benefits include:
Up to £10m third party liability insurance.
Free legal support and advice from the BC legal team.
Save a minimum of 12% at the British Cycling Wiggle shop
Save 10% at Halfords stores nationwide
Pre-sale and discounted tickets to major UK cycle events
Save up to £23 a year on magazines including Cycling Plus, Procycling and Mountain Biking UK (no dirt mag tho :()
Save 40% on AA Membership
Get a free copy of Rouleur and Privateer worth up to £10 each

Save 10% on Cycle Rescue, an emergency roadside recovery service for cyclists

Then they have various race license memberships.
Starting with the Race Bronze membership. This is £13.50 a year and includes most of the benefits of the Ride membership.
The most expensive and comprehensive membership they offer is the Race gold membership which is £64 a year and has the additional benefits of a full racing license and 15% off bike insurance.

If you need a race license or just like the sound of these additional benefits then why not jump on-board with the British authority for bicycle racing. You might even be able to convince them that Downhill mountain bike racing is the premier form of bicycle competition! (which we already know) ;)

Dirt Magazine have been giving this 6" travel offering from BMC good reviews in the magazine and there are a number of glowing reviews from various peep all over the internet.
Normally this frame retails at £1599 - Its currently available in a 2009 paint job for only £599. That's a big grand off the RRP and a fantastic price for a great all mountain frame equipped with the FOX rp2 shock and a little thing called VPS.

The BMC Trailfox 2011 Carbon looks pretty sexy too! Although this one might set you back a little more than the £600 you can pick up the 2009 version for!

Ship your bike anywhere in Europe for just £19

Selling a bike or frame on ebay? Having a 'pick up only' option on your listing really puts off a lot of buyers and means you possibly wont be getting top dollar for your steed!
As any ebayer knows there are always loads of European buyers looking for deals on the UK site, many of you will have received mails asking if you will ship to Portugal etc...

Royal mail, parcel force and other delivery firms are currently charging about £140 to ship a bicycle to European destinations.

Absolute deal of the century is these guys are offering to ship a 20kg box with the dimensions 173cm x 113cm x 21cm for only £19 plus vat. DHL are the courier dealing with it and its on a Express European service which takes about 3 days for delivery.

I recently bought a bike from a bike shop in the UK and was quoted £80 by the store for delivery to myself in France. So instead I took them up on their offer of free UK delivery, had the bike sent to a relative in the UK and then shipped it over with this service. An absolutely huge bike box arrived on my french door step perfectly, 3 days later!

This is an absolutely great deal for anyone needing to get there bike to Europe on the cheap or selling it to a European based buyer. At £19 its cheaper than taking it on as excess baggage on Easyjet - so this would make a perfect option for someone looking to fly off on a riding holiday to the alps. - Why not just get your bike delivered to the hotel / riding hostel a few days beforehand - then its there waiting for you when you fly in!

Delivery's are tracked and require a signature - they come with £50 worth of insurance as standard and you can insure further for 5% of the total cost. Its picked up from your door step on your chosen date and delivered by DHL express a few days later.

So if your selling or going off on your riding holidays definitely have a further look at this service!
